Editing Blog

 Once all of the scenes were filmed we edited all of the clips. First I had to merge all of the clips together. I then added a transition to make the all of the clips flow smoothly. This also helped to bring the video together. I then put a filter over the entire video. I used an old school VHS camera. This gave the commercial an old school vibe. This also added to the overall theming that I was going for with this commercial. I then had to cut down all of the clips. The clips started form a range of 5 seconds to 25 seconds. I had to cut them down to around 3 seconds each. I then added an effect to the scene of my friend walking on the curb. I added a bounce effect. I feel like this also added to the vibe I was going for in this commercial. This scene was cut from about 12 seconds to about 3 seconds. However, when I added the bounce effect, it made the clip about 5 seconds. The editing process was fairly easy. It took a total of about a half an hour to an hour. A half hour of the editing process was due to rendering. The commercial came out to an even 30 seconds.

Genre Research: Horror

We had to research a genre for this blog. I chose horror. At first I thought I knew a lot about horror. I would soon come to the realization that I was very mistaken. I chose horror for many reasons. One being because it is one of my favorite genres. Another being that it is very different in the way it it setup from most other genres. Rather than it being light outside, it is usually dark. There are 4 main lighting techniques in the horror genre. These are "uplighting", "spotlighting", "silhouettes" and "underexposure". These help create a sense of fright or gloominess throughout the scenes. There are many different camera angles used in the horror genre. These include, "birds-eye", "low angles", "close ups" and "tilted angles". Mis-En-Scene is very important in movies. Without this, there would be no movies. You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques. The first thing we see is the title of the movie. This is accompanied by some eerie background music. We then see the director credits. These are followed by the cast. Then the music composers. The images shown are pretty scary. You can tell that they are truly trying to frighten you. Scary images of wolves, children and symbols were appearing. These were all showing a sense of knowing that you are about to be scared.
