Genre Research: Action and Romance

We have two pick two genres to research outside of my own. I am choosing action and romance. I chose action because action is a great genre and a classic one too. I chose romance for a different reason though. I chose romance because I feel it is the complete opposite of horror. While I thought I knew a lot about action, there is a lot I didnt know and I dont really know anything about romance. Action uses a lot of different lighting techniques like "backlighting", "side lighting", "natural lighting" and "lowkey lighting". Some common camera angles are "wide shots", "over the shoulder", "close ups" and "extreme close ups". Costumes, makeup and props such as cars are the most common Mise-En-Scene found in action movies. Common sounds found in action are gunshots, explosions, punching and jets. Some action movie examples are The Fast and the Furious, Deadpool, Indiana Jones and Taken. Romance on the other hand has different aspects. The common lighting used in romance films are "highkey lighting", "lowkey lighting", "natural lighting" and "keylight lighting". Common camera angles are "long shot", "two shot", "close ups" and "medium shots. Common Mise-En-Scene from romance includes costumes, makeup and props such as dinner tables. The most common sounds found in romance films are romantic music playing in the background, dialogue and sound effects. Some examples of romance films are The Notebook, Dirty Dancing, The Princess Bride and Titanic. These are two completely different genres. I find it interesting how they have some similar aspects. These are both great genres.
