Final Task (Filming and Editing)

 For my final task we were asked to create the first two minutes to a movie. For my movie, I am choosing the horror genre. This is because of how much I have learned throughout the year on the genre. I chose to name my movie, "The Kidnapping." It is about a girl who is kidnapped by two men and tries to escape their powers. I filmed on the day of March 28, 2021. I filmed at a nearby park. I also wanted it to be dark to add to the horror esthetic. When filming we took proper safety precautions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There was hand sanitizer accessible at all times. There were also masks worn when not recording. This was important due to the close proximity of the actors. The entire filming process took about an hour and a half to two hours. The editing process took a little longer however. This took about three days. This is because I wanted to make sure it looked good. I also asked some friends for feedback after I finished editing the video. They all gave good feedback telling me I did not need to change anything and that it looked good. I made the title slides. I then completed it by putting the music in.

We had to research a genre for this blog. I chose horror. At first I thought I knew a lot about horror. I would soon come to the realization that I was very mistaken. I chose horror for many reasons. One being because it is one of my favorite genres. Another being that it is very different in the way it it setup from most other genres. Rather than it being light outside, it is usually dark. Title Research: 30 Days of Night

 From Watch the Titles What titles are displayed during the opening sequences? What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? What connotations do these images carry? How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset? What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques. The first thing we see is the title of the movie. This is accompanied by some eerie background music. We then see the director credits. These are followed by the cast. Then the music composers. The images shown are pretty scary. You can tell that they are truly trying to frighten you. Scary images of wolves, children and symbols were appearing. These were all showing a sense of knowing that you are about to be scared. Final Task (Location, Sound, Participants, Health, Schedule)

 For my final task I am making a horror movie. I will be recording my movie at a park. It will be dark. There also will not be anybody nearby. There will be background music to add to the theme of the movie. There will be dialogue between Grant and Clay. There will also be dialogue between Grant and Maria. There will only be three actors in my movie. One being Grant (myself). Clay is the driver. While Maria is the girl being kidnapped. There were lots of health precautions taken to ensure everybody's safety. We will have hand sanitizer available. Masks will also be worn when not filming. We all have also been together multiple times during the pandemic. This is because one is my bestfriend and the other is my girlfriend which is why we have all been together.
