In the opening credits of the film, we start by seeing the director credits. It then transitions into the cast. Finally the music composers. Everything is in black and white which adds to the horror aspect. Everything is also shaking. These all help to create a sense of horror. They are also meant for the viewer to start worrying about what is about to happen. As well as get them ready for the film. It adds to the effect horror has on people. They used shaking and the black and white filter to target the horror crowd. Technology was used very effectively. For instance the shaking was a great addition and transition. The black and white just adds to the overall eeriness. This was a great way to introduce everything.

Genre Research: Horror

We had to research a genre for this blog. I chose horror. At first I thought I knew a lot about horror. I would soon come to the realization that I was very mistaken. I chose horror for many reasons. One being because it is one of my favorite genres. Another being that it is very different in the way it it setup from most other genres. Rather than it being light outside, it is usually dark. There are 4 main lighting techniques in the horror genre. These are "uplighting", "spotlighting", "silhouettes" and "underexposure". These help create a sense of fright or gloominess throughout the scenes. There are many different camera angles used in the horror genre. These include, "birds-eye", "low angles", "close ups" and "tilted angles". Mis-En-Scene is very important in movies. Without this, there would be no movies. We then see the director credits. These are followed by the cast. Then the music composers. The images shown are pretty scary. You can tell that they are truly trying to frighten you. Scary images of wolves, children and symbols were appearing. These were all showing a sense of knowing that you are about to be scared.
